Synopsis

Ultimately, the goal of the Artemis program is to enable a continuous human presence on the Moon. To achieve this, the Gateway lunar space station will play a key role, serving as a relay between Earth and the Moon for missions IV to VII.

To make long-term settlement possible, the first lunar habitat projects are being developed, with full-scale prototypes tested on Earth in extreme environments such as lava caves.

Meanwhile, astronauts are conducting physical and mental endurance tests in conditions that simulate future lunar expeditions.
