Synopsis

He is the pharaoh of the pharaohs and his name calls up all the magnificence of ancient Egypt. The banks of the Nile are still dotted with some of his breathtaking monuments such as the temples of Abu Simbel, Karnak and Luxor. He also built the most beautiful tomb for the most beautiful queen, his wife and favourite, Nefertari.

Ramses II is also the ruler of all records: a reign of nearly 77 years, dozens of wives and concubines who, it is said, gave him more than 100 children.

Ramses II is today the only pharaoh whose face can be admired thanks to his mummy, preserved in the Cairo Museum.
