Synopsis

Princess Amélie d'Orléans’ father was in line for the succession to the throne of France at the end of the 19th century. Her future looked bright indeed.

On May 22, 1886, she married the Duke of Bragança, Dom Carlos, heir to the Portuguese crown. She became queen a few years later and was the last to rule this ancient kingdom.

On February 1, 1908, the fairy tale turned tragic with the murder of her husband and eldest son in the main square of Lisbon.
