Synopsis

In Persian, Punjab means "the land of the five rivers". This state, located in the northwest of India, is the breadbasket of the country and one of its wealthiest.

Although less known and less visited than neighboring Rajasthan, Punjab has a rich cultural heritage resulting from successive invasions by Persians, Greeks, and the British.

This land of the Maharajas is also the birthplace of the Sikh religion and its holy shrine, the Golden Temple. This magnificent building, entirely covered with gold, is located in the heart of the city of Amritsar.
