In Iraq el-Emir, near the Jordan River, the ruins of Hyrcan the Tobiad's palace bear witness to an ambitious architectural project that remained unfinished. Built in the 2nd century B.C., this monumental structure blends Eastern and Hellenistic influences.

Research has enabled part of it to be reconstructed and has shed new light on its patron's ambitions.
