In the face of the official line, mothers in Fukushima have chosen not to believe it and are paying a social price: to leave means being branded a traitor; to stay means putting their children at risk. Caught between these two impossible choices, they are organizing, coming together, and sharing tips on sourcing radiation-free rice and on testing their water.

A quiet movement, labeled "dangerous" by the authorities, is gaining momentum far beyond Fukushima.
