Synopsis
In Burgos, the cradle of Old Castile and a stop on the Way of St. James, the Gothic cathedral houses the tombs of El Cid and Chimène, as well as chapels adorned with Renaissance sculptures and a breathtaking star-shaped lantern tower.
In León, the Cathedral of Santa María dazzles with its 1,200 m² of stained-glass windows, the finest in Europe. The city also boasts the sumptuous convent-palace of San Marcos, a jewel of Plateresque art from the Spanish Renaissance.
