Synopsis

The origins of Normandy go back to the beginning of the 10th century when the king of France ceded the region to the Vikings. The rivalry between the monarchy and the Duchy of Normandy was at its apex and each fortified its side of the border, giving birth to medieval fortresses such as Gisors or the emblematic Gaillard castle.

During the Renaissance, the construction of prestigious buildings continues and gives rise to ceremonial residences.

Castles like Martainville or Miromesnil allow us to explore the cultural heritage of Normandy and the link between their history and the region.
