Countless Jewish families were deported to the extermination camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau, very few survive without having lost one member. The Ovitz family was one of them.

The Ovitz were affected by a special kind of dwarfism. As the largest family of persons of short stature in Europe, they were famous performance artists known as "the Compania Lilliput". During their captivity in Auschwitz-Birkenau, they became the favorite "guinea pigs" of Josef Mengele, the Angel of Death.
