Synopsis

Born in Paris on 14th November 1840, Monet is known for being one of the creators of impressionism, the leader of the movement.

His beginnings were difficult, his paintings being systematically rejected by the various art exhibitions. It’s only after a year spent in London, when he moved to Argenteuil that he became successful, realizing the most famous paintings of the impressionist movement from 1871 to 1878.

He lived his last 40 years in Giverny where he spent his time painting and gardening. He would progressively lose his sight but continue to practice his art.
