Synopsis

The mountain gorilla is the largest primate in the world, though close to extinction. In the past, another primate, Gigantopithecus, grew up to 3 meters tall. It was organized in very much the same way as the gorillas, with dominant males larger than the females.

Tree-dwelling sloths evolved to move more slowly and be smaller in size. That enabled them to survive, unlike their ancestors, the ground sloths, that could grow to the size of an elephant.
