Synopsis

The country of the "long white cloud" is better known for its sheep and rugby team than for its wine. Even if local production is small, it is well regarded, and New Zealand is as well known to tourists for its spectacular landscapes as to oenologists for the quality of its wines.

It all started recently, in 1973, but the geographical situation, the climate, and the know-how of a handful of men and women have uncorked impressive results.

The number of estates has tripled in less than 10 years, which sets this industry among the most flourishing in the country.
